Designer wear for women in wheelchairs
The two looks that are really hot this season are: The dark, smoky, shimmery eye paired with neutral lips; and deep red lips balanced with a light eye. Shimmer is big, and the holiday season is the time to shine!
My everyday makeup is fairly conservative. How can I add to it when going out to a holiday party without having to take everything off?
The best thing to do is to clean up any messy smudges and then use a light powder or try a tinted moisturizer for a dewy finish. Reapply blush. Next, darken the eyes with shimmery dark shadow to create a smoky eye effect. Only add more mascara if it has worn off, as a second coat sometimes will clump.
Another option is to cover the lid with a light, shimmering eyeshadow and then emphasize the lips with your favorite red lipstick, making certain to line edges with a similar color to keep a clean line. If you have difficulty with hand function and reapplying, there are a lot of long-lasting lip glosses and lipsticks available.
To keep from looking too made-up and overdone, never emphasize lips and eyes at the same time.
What is something special that I can add for a New Year's Eve party?
Try a dark-colored mascara, like a sapphire blue or deep violet, for a bit of drama! False eyelashes can look gorgeous too if you are able to apply them correctly. (you don't want them to fall off in your champagne!)
What are some basic pieces that I can use to create an outfit for a holiday party? The most glamorous, sparkling holiday outfits often start with a simple white blouse, whether it is a tailored tuxedo type shirt, sexy silk button-down or a ruffly peasant blouse. Other options include a shiny camisole, winter white or black turtleneck and, of course, the little black dress. These basics paired with the right accessories can be transformed into a festive holiday style without blowing your budget.
What are some accessories that say ‘holiday’?
Never have there been so many affordable glitzy, glamorous accessories! Now is the time to fulfill your fantasy and splurge on costume jewelry. Build on your basic outfit and add multiple necklaces dripping with diamonds and pearls or, if it doesn’t interfere with maneuvering your chair, don’t hesitate to wear crystal bracelets and bangles or a oversized coctail ring.
For an updated look, cinch your dress, sweater or blouse with a patent-leather, metallic or rhinestone belt.
Just like your makeup, it’s important to create a balance and not over-accessorize.
How do I stay warm while looking festive?
This too has become easier than ever! This season, you can find festive pieces for your wardrobe in metallics, rhinestones and a multitude of sophisticated textures. A scarf can add color and drama while keeping you warm.
The ultimate fashion-forward trend is faux fur! You can look like a movie star in luxurious fur wraps that are warm, cozy AND extremely affordable. Add a fur vest to a simple black sweater and pants, and you will be toasty chic!
What kind of shoes are best for a holiday look?
The simple black shoe is always safe, preferrably in a patent leather but there are so many other exciting choices such as ones with metallics or adorned with rhinestones. Even flats can be seen with glitter or emblished with beautiful stones - create your own by attaching brooches.
Knee high boots always look chic especially with a sweater dress although ankle boots are stealing the show this year.
Most importantly, just get out there and have a wonderful time wearing your best accessory: a dazzling smile! Happy Holidays!
